Behind the Scenes: Motherhood Mini Sessions

On Saturday, September 9, I had the privilege of being Ashley’s assistant during Motherhood Mini Sessions. Casa Flora provided flower arrangements and floral crowns and oh my, was it a blast!

Ashley has such a great eye for natural light and making each person feel comfortable and at home. We took turns entertaining the kiddos with a chicken puppet that saved the day. Our other saving grace: bubbles.

The day started with adorable twin girls that were so cheerful and happy. A couple came in for a beautiful maternity shoot that took your breath away. I even got to sit in the chair and get my picture taken while we worked with the lighting between sessions. The beautiful thing about sessions, I discovered, is that we can be fully devoted to each person that comes in. I am not a natural in front of the camera, but the calming environment instantly puts you at ease.

I asked Ashley what her favorite part of the day was because I was having trouble articulating what I was feeling in my head and she sums it up perfectly.

My favorite part was meeting new people/moms and the different personalities of all the kiddos!

It was a busy day, but a glorious day. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every encounter and look forward to meeting more people. Fall Mini Sessions are coming and we would love for you to be a part of it!

Caldwell Zoo Take Two

The African Savanna Habitat is now open at the Caldwell Zoo! Last year, we had a wonderful time photographing the facility and the animals. This year, Caldwell Zoo invited us back to capture the images of these exciting animals in the African Savanna Habitat that have been introduced to East Texas. You'll see beautiful Elephants, elegant giraffes, serene lions, and many other surprising animals. For more information about the exhibit and to plan a visit, visit Caldwell Zoo online at http://caldwellzoo.org/habitats_african_savanna.htm

Tyler Today: Lawless Acres

Sam had the privilege to photograph Lawless Acres, a farm that was featured in the magazine Tyler Today. The Thomas family has been bringing new life into the land and buildings that feature a guest house, pool, and a silo that is part of the main living quarters. The home features unique decor such as a  bench from the movie "The Lone Ranger" and a folding chair made with leather belts. Azalea Orthopedics

We had the pleasure of having the staff of Azalea Orthopedics come in for their Corporate Headshots! Azalea Orthopedics is composed of a group of physicians who are specialists in orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation. If you need to learn more, visit their website at http://azaleaortho.com, but in the meantime, enjoy the slideshow! We love getting to work alongside other local businesses, so keep us in mind the next time you and your staff need professional images.

Sam and Jill

I'm sure you all have heard of the show Fixer Upper and marveled at how a husband and wife team can have a strong marriage and also work together. (If you have not heard of it, there's a show called Fixer Upper with a husband and wife team that have a great marriage and work together.)

Meet East Texas' own Sam and Jill Smead who have been working together for 17 years. (Married for longer). Recently, they were featured on the cover of Infinitie Plus magazine. Jill is the studio manager handling production, working with customers, learning about new products and technology. Sam uses his architecture degree to create lasting images with a unique eye. Not only does he photograph families, children, and seniors, but he also does commercial photography, aeriel, professional images, architectural images, weddings, maternity sessions, and various projects that are presented to him. Because of Sam and Jill's dedication to hard work and quality, Sam Smead Photocreative has received numerous awards and has just expanded to  a secondary location in Tyler.

If you have not been by the studio, they would love to meet you!

Tyler Studio Special

We have a beautiful second studio location in Tyler, Texas.  We want to share this gorgeous location with you so we are doing a Spring Special to introduce it to you! It is by appointment only so be sure to call our studio in Longview to book an appointment!

Stars over Longview

Congratulations Longview Regional Medical Center on your 17th Stars Over Longview event! Stars Over Longview is a celebration that honors the women in the community for putting their time, energy, and gifts towards improving the community. There were over 50 nominees this year. The Longview Regional Medical Center Women's advisory council narrows the 50 women who are nominated by the community down to a mere 12.  It has been our privilege to take the portraits of such special women for over a decade. The recognition of these amazing women in our community is a wonderful tradition and we are proud to be a part of it. These are the portraits of the 12 women who will be honored at this special event.

Seniors

We love being able to take senior portraits and can't believe its already that time again. Fall is a great season to start thinking about booking your session. We try to make each portrait represent the individual and look at what makes them shine. Love being outdoors? Let's shoot outdoors. Play an instrument? Let's feature that. Love your pet? Bring them to the studio! We want to make these special memories last a lifetime.

Caldwell Zoo

Since 1937 the Caldwell Zoo has been a part of East Texas. It started out as a play school and officially became a zoo in 1953. Our photography is expanding to Tyler and we loved being able to tour the new habitats that the zoo is updating while being able to see these beautiful animals. For more images, check out our Projects category from the home page!

Highway to Heaven

It was a dream come true getting to photograph vintage cars. The 1932 Ford Victoria was built by Dick Megugorae. The 1929 Ford ’28 Model A Phaeton was built by Mickey Knight of Calabasas, California.  The Ford '29 A Roadster was built by Magoo Auto in 1984, and finally, the 1932 Ford Hi-Boy was built by Bill VanDYKE. All of these cars are being sold by Sidney Allen right here in Longview, TX and it was our joy to get to capture these images!

Meet Lindsey!

Hi everyone. I would like to introduce myself to you; my name is Lindsey Searle. I am a southern “high haired” East Texas lady, I have a sensitive heart and a spontaneous soul. I have been married to my dreamy husband, Casey, for four years now and together we enjoy our beautiful big-eared fur baby, Piper Mae.

I have officially made “the leap” into professional photography and I couldn’t be more proud of the studio that I will be representing. Up until recently, my day-to-day routine has revolved around TEETH! I have been an Orthodontic Assistant my whole adult career. Yes…. all 11 years of it! I have made lifelong friends, connected with patients and families that will forever be in my life, and I have been able to share something with each individual person that is very special to me- a smile.  A smile has the to power to calm hearts, assure feelings, and open a path to something beautiful each time it is shared.  Creating laughter is something that has always been a part of my life. I have grown up with a witty family and you can bet at any large holiday everyone is trying to see who can get the loudest laughs or capture the biggest smiles.

Sam Smead Photocreative has given me the opportunity to share my smile by pursuing photography, a passion of mine, as a career and a business. Elle Gallery is my love for capturing beautiful moments; the ones that you just want to wrap your arms around. I am very much looking forward to being involved in the communities of East Texas and collaborating with amazing talents that I call friends. Capturing what is beautiful to you is my priority. Creating what fulfills your dreams in my ambition.

Morgan Butler

It's almost time for the Longview Viewette Review and today Morgan Butler came into the studio for a few shots. Not your average Viewette, Morgan has got some serious personality and that's what makes for awesome images. Thanks for coming in and being such a great subject. Go Lobos!
