Sam Smead Photocreative: East Texas Photographer
More than 25 years ago, Sam Smead took over a small gift shop on Judson Road and began a business journey that has led them through several professional reinventions.
Sam Smead Photocreative has grown into a premiere portrait studio, the largest in the east Texas area with 5 employees/1 part-time, as result of staying tuned to the trends in technology, anticipating client needs, diversifying when needed, appreciating the significance of giving back to the community (through charitable endeavors,) and working the hours it takes to create a quality product. Sam began his business in 1988 with “bunny photos” of children.
Sam’s interest in a productive business footprint doesn’t end with an impressive portfolio. He and Jill also strive to be proactive in preserving a link to local heritage. They invested in renovating the old A&B spring and brake shop in the Junction Area of downtown. Utilizing the textures of brick walls, exposed beams and stained concrete they turned an eyesore into a viable commercial enterprise that has influenced others to renovate and restore addresses in downtown. Sam Smead Photocreative embraces social networking and Internet marketing as the means of staying current in the industry. Sam has been voted Best Photographer in East Texas by BScene magazine and best of East Texas by the readers of the Longview News Journal numerous times.
Sam and Jill consistently contribute their time, talents and resources to help educate their fellow photographers and further their knowledge of business practices and creative skills as they apply to photography.
Sam and Jill have one son, Sam Smead, Jr. who is a Senior! at Ole Miss...Hotty Toddy!
